The first day is not about yelling, blaming, deleting everything, or proving the story publicly. It is about protecting the child, stopping further harm, saving key details, and choosing the safest reporting/removal path.
Do not make the child feel like they are the problem.
Shame can make them hide the next part.

This order helps reduce harm without accidentally spreading the image further.
Step 1 — Calm the child first
Children may panic, shut down, deny, cry, get angry, or refuse to talk. Your first tone matters.
Say this
“You are not in trouble for telling me. We are going to deal with this carefully.”
Avoid this
“How could you let this happen?” “Why did you do that?” “Everyone is going to know.”
Step 2 — Stop further contact
- Tell the child not to reply for now.
- Do not negotiate, argue, threaten, or bait the person.
- Do not send money, more images, passwords, or personal information.
- Do not move the conversation to another app.
- Watch for new accounts trying to contact the child.
The goal is to slow the pressure down while preserving what happened.
Step 3 — Save key details carefully
You are not trying to create a perfect case file. You are trying to stop critical details disappearing.
- Usernames, display names, profile links, phone numbers, or emails.
- App, platform, group chat, server, account, or website where it happened.
- Threats, blackmail, countdowns, payment demands, or pressure messages.
- Dates, times, URLs, group names, and report confirmations.
- A short timeline of what happened and what the child tells you.
Avoid forwarding, reposting, or unnecessarily copying sexualised content involving a child.
Step 4 — Choose the right path

Step 5 — Report and request removal
Use official services and platform reporting. Keep copies of report confirmations where possible.
If the child is in immediate danger, use emergency services first.
Step 6 — Support after the first report
- Check in again after the first conversation.
- Watch for shame, panic, withdrawal, anger, sleep changes, or school distress.
- Do not repeatedly blame or interrogate the child.
- Strengthen device privacy, account passwords, friend requests, and message settings.
- Consider school involvement if peers, group chats, bullying, or classmates are involved.
Reporting is not the end. The child still needs calm support and restored safety.

- Posting the image or screenshots publicly.
- Forwarding content to other parents or friends.
- Shaming the child for being targeted.
- Deleting messages before saving key details.
- Threatening the offender from your own account.
- Assuming fake images do not matter.
- Waiting too long because you are unsure which label fits.
